Anky仔今天介紹很久沒介紹的國泰航空。這次是介紹的是由香港前往東京羽田機場的CX542航班。飛機是使用3艙等的B777-300ER。CX542好像在5月就會改回使用B777-300飛機執飛,所以大家要坐的話就要趕快坐了。Anky仔是在2023年2月13日乘坐的,當天是用一架大約7歲的B-HNR執飛。登機門是41號。

In this review, we'll be having a look at an airline that I haven't reviewed in a while - Cathay Pacific.  I'll be taking a journey from Hong Kong to Tokyo Haneda onboard CX542.  This flight was flown by a 3-class 777-300ER, which would be switched back to the 777-300 in May.  The aircraft used was a 7-year-old B-HNR.  The flight boarded from gate 41.

由於飛機是沒有頭等艙,所以在第一或第二門登機後也會看到商務艙的座位。Anky仔當天是選了23A,是商務艙的最後一排商務艙,所以大家可以看到後面就是特選經濟艙。當天商務艙是全滿的。

Since the aircraft is not configured with a first class cabin, you'll see the business cabin after entering from doors 1 or 2.  I picked seat 23A, which is the last row of the cabin.  You can see from the photo that the premium economy cabin is directly behind my seat.  The business cabin was full that day.

23A是在第二區的商務艙,而第二區是比第一區小,所以人數也比較少。第二區只有四排而已。

Seat 23A is located in the second, and smaller business cabin.  Since this smaller cabin consists of only 4 rows, there are fewer passengers.

B777-300ER商務艙跟A350的商務艙是不一樣的,個人電視也比A350的小,而且解像度也沒A350的好。B777-300ER跟A350一樣的是可以有即時影像看到機外情況,但B777-300ER就只有起落架的影像,並沒有機尾的畫面。在大部份的商務艙旅客登機後,空服人員就派發歡迎飲料,而艙務長就派發熱的白毛巾。

The business cabins on the 777-300ER and A350 differ in terms of IFE screen size and resolution, with the A350 having a more superior product.  Both aircraft are equipped with exterior cameras, however, only the A350 features both the landing gear and tail camera; while the 777-300ER features only the gear camera. 

Once most business class guests had boarded, our welcome drinks were served, together with a hot towel.

跟疫情前不一樣的是,餐單不用是由高級艙務長派發給你,因國泰航空已重新安排崗位及減了人手,所以餐單就在你登機前已經放在你的桌子上。幸運的是,主餐還是有三款,一種是港式;一種是西式;一種是日式。

The inflight menu is no longer handed out by the senior cabin crew since there had been changes in staff deloyment due to the pandemic.  Instead, the menu was placed on the table prior to boarding.  Fortunately, they are still offering 3 options for the meal - Hong Kong style, Western and Japanese.

另一種改變的服務方法就是空服人員會跟國泰的鑽石卡會員及金卡會員先預留餐點,而且空服人員是用IPAD幫旅客下單的,不用是空服人員手寫了,應該也是因為疫情大家減少接觸而改變吧,航班上也減少了機內雜誌,只有一張B777-300ER的安全須知卡及嘔吐袋提供。枕頭就在你登機前放在你座位上。

Another change you'll expect to see is that when the crew are taking meal orders from Gold and Diamond members, they'll do so on the iPad instead of writing it down.  This is perhaps to minimise contact due to the pandemic.  Inflight magazines have also been discontinued, with only the essentials to remain - safety cards and air sickness bags.  A pillow is also placed on your seat before you board.

飛機準時的推出,並前往07R起飛。飛機在下午4點多就離開了香港國際機場了。在等飛機餐的時間,我們也建議大家可以看看風景,因為時候也開始是日落的時間了。機艙外的美景是美到不行。這絛飛機航路亦是非常繁忙的,所以也可能看到其他飛機在你旁邊飛過的。

We pushedback on time and departed from runway 07R just after 16:00.  The best inflight entertainment is the view, especially when the sun is about to set.  Why not indulge in such a treat while waiting for your meal?  Since this is a busy route, it is common to see other planes flying by.

在日落後,空服人員也開始派發花生和飲料。

Briefly after sunset, the crew handed out peanuts and drinks.

大部份旅客吃完花生後,空服人員就開始鋪桌子及送上前菜。送上來的方式跟疫情前沒甚麼變化,也是一盤前菜,一碗沙拉,日式冷麵及一杯水,之後再送上麵包,但不同的是空服人員是親自送上餐盤,不再推出餐車。

After most guests finished their peanuts, our tables were set and we were served our appetisers.  The meal service appears no different than how it was pre-covid - appetizer, a bowl of salad, Japanese chilled noodles and a glass of water, followed by your choice of bread.  The only difference that I noticed was instead of serving meals on a trolley, they are handed out from the crew.

前菜吃到差不多,空服人員收回碟子,再送上的的主菜。如果大家有經常看我們的飛行記錄,大家應該會猜到Anky仔會要哪一款主菜吧!

After I was done with the appetiser, the crew cleared the plate and served the main dish.  If you've been reading my reviews, you'll know which main dish I'll go for!

最後,就是冰淇淋,芝士及水果。國泰航班通常會在商務艙有3到4個冰淇淋口味選擇,如果你喜歡吃冰淇淋,不訪問問空服人員可否多要一杯。水果就一碟也會有4種的。空服人員也會問問需要其他飲料的。

Last but not least, ice cream, cheese and fruits were served.  You'll usually be offered to choose among 3 - 4 flavours for the ice cream in business class.  Don't be shy to ask for more if you're a fan of ice cream.  As for the fruits, 4 types will be served.  The crew also came around and see if anyone wanted more drinks.

Anky仔其實除了點了冰淇淋,還有水果的,只是Anky仔看見空服人員那麼熱情,也送了泰式糯米飯給空服人員。他們的熱情是跟你分享你送的禮物。大家可以想像到嗎?我真的謝謝他們,令我飽到一個點下飛機了。

I was then offered Thai mango sticky rice by one of the very enthusiastic crew.  With that much food and passion from the crew, I arrived with a completely full tummy.

飛機在大家也吃完整個飛機餐後就開始下降前往東京羽田機場。由於CX542是國際線,所以降落跑道後,飛機是轉去國際航廈的方向及登機門。最後跟大家說CX542也是一班過夜航班,第二天會執飛CX543回香港的,所以解釋了為什麼CX542/543是飛B777-300飛機了。

We descended into Tokyo Haneda after meal service.  Since this is an international flight, we taxiied towards the international terminal after landing.  Since CX542 is a red-eye flight, it will operate as CX543 the next day back to Hong Kong.  This explains why CX542/543 are operated by 777-300.
