Introduction 簡介

Premium economy has always been a sweet spot for many travellers, due to its added comfort, amenities and enhanced catering; with all that being offered just a fraction more than the price of economy, while still being substantially more affordable than business class.  I, however, was lucky to snatch a return trip from Vancouver to Hong Kong for $200 cheaper than economy.  Now, let's see what was offered in United's premium economy product.

豪華經濟艙因額外的座位舒適度、座位設備可及更提供更優質的餐飲一直是許多旅客的最愛； 雖然它的價格僅比經濟艙高出一小部分，但同時比商務艙價錢便宜得多。 不過，我很幸運地還比經濟艙價錢便宜 200 美元(大約1,500港幣)的價格從溫哥華飛往香港。 現在，就讓我們來看看美國聯合航空的豪華經濟艙產品提供哪些服務吧。

The Flight 航機

Premium economy customers may board with zone 2.  The premium economy cabin is located behind the Polaris Business cabin, and it consists of 3 rows in a 2-3-2 lay out.  I was seated in the last row at 22K, an aisle seat.  Upon boarding, an amenities kit, headphones and a pair of slippers were placed at the seat pocket.  Additionally, a blanket and pillow were placed on the seat.  However, no pre-departure drinks were served.

The IFE touchscreen can also be controlled by a remote control located at the centre console of the seat.

Note that the headphones are not noise-cancelling. 請注意，耳機不具備降噪功能。

Underneath the seat in front of you is a footrest, which forms a perfect angled bed when the leg rest underneath your seat is extended.

The flight departed late despite having boarding commenced on time.  Not long after takeoff, the crew prepared our meals as the cabin lights were dimmed.  Unfortunately, no menus were given, so I could not tell exactly what the meals were but there were 2 options: chicken rice and a vegetarian meal.  I went with the chicken rice.

儘管準時開始登機，航班還是晚點出發。 起飛後不久，機組人員在機艙燈光變暗的情況下為我們準備餐點。 不幸的是，沒有提供餐單，所以我無法準確地說出餐點有甚麼選擇，只記得有兩種選擇：雞飯和素食餐。 我選擇了雞肉飯。



The meal comes with metal cutleries and a bowl of salad, bread roll and a lemon coconut biscuit.  While the chicken was seasoned well, the rice was a bit too hard.  Overall, it was a satisfactory meal, but nothing remarkable.

餐盤上有金屬餐具、一碗沙拉、麵包、檸檬椰子餅乾和主餐。 雖然雞肉調味得很好，但飯有點太硬了。 總的來說，這是一頓令人滿意的飯菜，但沒什麼特別的。



On my return journey, my meal of choice, which was a chicken, was not available by the time it got to me.  So, I was offered the mushroom fried rice instead.  It was a disappointment.

在我的回程中，我選擇的一餐是雞肉，但到我的時候已經沒有了。 所以，他們只能提供了蘑菇炒飯給我。選擇不夠，會讓令人失望的感覺。


The lavatory is located behind my seat, just before economy class.  洗手間在我的座位後面，也是在經濟艙前面。

I paid the lavatory a visit after the meal and it was kept reasonably clean.  This holds true for the remainder of the flight.

飯後我去了洗手間，這裡保持得非常乾淨。 剩餘的飛行也是如此乾淨。


For the remainder of the flight, the lights were dimmed, but not switched off. 在剩下的飛行過程，機艙燈光變暗，但不是在關閉的狀態。

About 6 hours into the flight, we were given some snacks, which consists of: a sandwich, a pack of chocolate chip cookies and a choice of drinks.

飛行大約 6 小時後，我們得到了一些零食，其中包括：一個三明治、一包巧克力餅乾和多種飲料。


The snacks came just in time as I was about to get hungry again. 正當我肚子餓的時候，小吃來得非常適合。

There is also an useful feature on the IFE that lets you decide whether you wish to be waken up for food or you'd rather skip it catch some sleep instead.  The downside is that if there's an announcement, the screen will come back on.

個人娛樂系統上還有一個很有用的功能，就是可以讓您決定要空服人員叫醒你吃東西還是不要打擾，繼續睡覺。 缺點是如果有訊息或廣播通知，螢幕會重新開啟。


I'd always like to try airline food, whether good or bad. 無論飛機上的食物好與壞，我總是會嘗試的。

2 hours before our arrival, we were served breakfast.  Once again, we were offered 2 options: scrambled eggs or apple oatmeal.  I wanted the scrambled eggs but sadly they were not available by the time I was served, so I had to take the oatmeal.  The oatmeal tasted pleasant, but I am just not a fan of oatmeal.

抵達前 2 小時，我們享用了早餐。 我們都是有兩種選擇：炒蛋或蘋果燕麥片。 我想要炒蛋，但遺憾的是，當我上菜時，它們已經缺乏了，所以我只可吃燕麥片。 燕麥片味道是不錯，但我本人本來是不喜歡燕麥片的。


Each meal also comes with a fruit bowl and a croissant. 每個餐盤上也是附有水果盤和麵包。
 


On the return journey, the scrambeled egg was available and it tasted ok.

回程的時候，飛機餐有炒蛋提供，味道還可以。

Despite the initial delay, we landed in Hong Kong 15 minutes ahead of schedule.

雖然飛機一開始是延誤了，但是我們還是提早 15 分鐘抵達香港。

Final Thoughts 總結
This flight went smoothly and met the expectations of a premium economy product, but there was not anything worth mentioning.  Though on a long haul flight like this, I'd always suggest spending extra for premium economy for the added comfort.

這次的飛行旅行非常順利，是符合豪華經濟艙產品的預期，但沒有什麼值得一提的。 儘管在這樣的長途航班上，我總是建議多花點錢購買豪華經濟艙，以增加舒適度。
